Privacy without a lead wall.
The calculators are designed to work without collecting contact information.
Calculator data
Calculator inputs are processed in your browser for the purpose of showing a planning result. The static calculator pages do not require an account, phone number, email address or street address.
Contact form
If you choose to use the contact form, the information you enter is submitted so the site can respond to that message.
Hosting and analytics
The hosting provider may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, request logs and security data. The site also uses Google Analytics 4 as described below to measure aggregate usage and improve the calculators and guides.
Analytics
The optional-services banner keeps Google Analytics and AdSense off until you choose Allow. If you allow them, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site use, such as page views, engagement, form interactions and outbound-link clicks. Google may process device, browser, approximate location and interaction information. We use this information to maintain and improve the site, not to sell personal information.
You can limit analytics through your browser settings, blocking tools or other privacy controls. Google explains how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services at Google’s partner-sites privacy page.
Last privacy review: September 16, 2026.
Advertising
On eligible content pages, Google AdSense advertising technology can load only after you choose Allow in the optional-services banner. AdSense is disabled on noindex utility pages such as the 404 and message-confirmation pages. Google and its partners may use cookies, local storage or similar identifiers to serve, measure and limit advertising, subject to your consent choices and applicable law.
Where Google requires consent for personalized or non-personalized advertising, the site must use an appropriate consent-management process before eligible advertising cookies are set. You can learn more at Google’s advertising privacy page.
What happens when optional Google services are allowed
Home Cost Canada keeps the calculators usable before optional analytics or advertising services are enabled. If you choose Allow in the privacy banner, the browser may load Google Analytics and Google AdSense resources. If you decline, those optional Google scripts remain off. Calculator inputs such as room size, project scope and finish level are used in the browser to produce a planning estimate; they are not required to be submitted through a lead form.
Advertising and measurement choices
Advertising is separated from the core calculator experience. Home Cost Canada does not sell calculator inputs, require an account to calculate a project, or require a phone number to view a result. Google may process information when its services are enabled under Google's own privacy terms. You can change or withdraw your optional analytics and advertising choice at any time using the Privacy choices button in the footer. Withdrawing permission refreshes this page to ensure previously loaded optional scripts are no longer active. Core calculators work without optional services.
Contact-form information and requests
When you submit a message, the name, email, topic, optional page link and message are sent through Netlify Forms and may be stored in the site owner's Netlify account so the message can be reviewed and answered. Messages may remain stored in our hosting account until deleted. Contact us if you want to ask about retention or request access, correction or deletion of your submitted information. Avoid submitting sensitive information. You may request access, correction or deletion of information submitted through the form via the contact page. Verification may be required before responding.
Withdrawing analytics and advertising consent
Use the Privacy choices control in the footer to withdraw consent to optional Google Analytics and AdSense services. The site then stops loading these services on subsequent views and attempts to clear first-party analytics cookies. Previously transmitted data and cookies stored under third-party domains cannot be recalled or removed directly by this website. You may also clear cookies in your browser. If local storage is blocked, your preference may not persist between visits.
Questions about privacy
For questions about this policy or information sent through the contact form, use the contact page. For the assumptions behind the renovation estimates themselves, see How we calculate.
On-device project estimates
If you select “Add this estimate to my budget,” your selected calculator inputs and estimated amounts are stored in this browser’s local storage (key: hcc-project-budget-v1) to combine them in the Project Budget Builder. The city chooser uses session storage in this browser tab to remember your last selection between calculator pages. These features do not send your saved project or contractor quote information to us. You can clear your stored budget from the builder or by clearing this site’s browser data. The quote comparison tool retains entries only during the current page session.
